Globe Tiger Baseball
Globe High School’s Vince Buzan was selected as this week’s Athlete of the Week. Vince is proving to be one of the top pitchers in the 3A Conference this season.
On Saturday the right-hander pitched a complete game against the Payson Longhorns. He had 6 strike-outs and no walks, while only allowing one run in the 13 to 1 Tiger win.
Vince dominated the opposition from start to finish in an outing very similar to Buzan’s one run effort earlier this season against Miami (Globe won that game 19 -1). Payson hitters had no answer for Buzan’s arm, in fact the only obstacle that really challenged Vince on the mound, was a sprinkler system malfunction that briefly delayed the game.
Vince and the Tigers will continue their impressive season on Friday when they host the Florence Gophers at 4:00 p.m.

High School golfers from San Carlos, Miami, San Manuel, and Santa Cruz teed off at around 2:00 p.m. Thursday for a regular season match at the Apache Stronghold Golf Course.
The prep golfers were forced to battle a very strong wind as they played their way through 9 holes.
The top individual scores on the day belonged to San Carlos’ brother and sister duo of Jessica and Marc Chapman, who each shot a 46 for the Braves.
Miami High School’s top golfer, Kevin Canez shot a 51 to round out the top three.
The event was won by the team from Santa Cruz who collectively out played the competition to take the match. San Carlos finished second, followed by Miami and San Manuel.
Both the Vandals and the Braves will travel to Queen Valley Golf Course on Thursday, April 17th to play in a match hosted by the Superior High School Panthers. That match will begin at 3:00 p.m.
