Knowledge is Power

By Janet Trimble

Gila Community College Wellness Center Facilitator

One of my favorite authors, Emmet Fox, a metaphysical scholar, has written several books about life principles and living well.  Following is some wisdom from his book, Find and Use Your Inner Power. I’d like to share with you: Freedom, health, and harmony can be attained by learning the laws of life and applying them. You are healthy because you are happy, not happy because you are healthy. The biggest fool of all is the man who bothers about outer things and neglects his own spiritual development. Peace of mind first … and all things will follow on that. To recognize failure intelligently is the first step toward building success. Recognize success with thanksgiving and build more success on that. He can who thinks he can. Grumbling is a certain sign of weakness.  Don’t grumble … change the condition. Unless you have confidence in yourself, you are licked before you start. Criticism of others is the hallmark of failure. Cultivate a sense of humor … laugh at yourself at least once before lunch. Not too much of anything. Radiate happiness and you help and inspire everyone you meet. The two poles of life are intelligence and love.  Unite them in every activity. To get the right mental attitude and maintain it will work a revolution in your life. Serenity grows from the inside outward. Unintelligence is working and worrying over a thousand unimportant and passing things and neglecting the development of your soul. For me, spiritual health is the cornerstone of wellness.  These life principles can be practiced to promote mind and body health as well.  I wish you peace and harmony, health and wellness in your life.
