The weather was perfect on Saturday for the annual St. Charles School Indian Festival, held at the school in San Carlos.
Visitors were treated to the fashion show, held by the students of St. Charles School, who modeled their best and prettiest camp dresses and jewelry. Entertainment for the day included Terrill Goseyun on the Apache violin, Joseph Hoffman, who sang Apache songs, and Karen Jones’ representation of the Sunrise Dance ceremony.
Adding to the traditions of the San Carlos Apache were the St. Charles School and Rice Intermediate Crown Dancers. The kindergarten students at St. Charles further delighted the crowd by singing songs in the Apache language. The end of the day was topped off with the generously talented singing voice of Mrs. Paula Antonio.
The school would also like to acknowledge Mary Kim Titla for taking time out of her busy schedule to attend the festival.
The festival would not be complete without the raffle drawing. St. Charles School would like to express their appreciation to the following for their contributions: The Apache Gold Casino, The Pickle Barrel, Chalo’s Restaurant, Irene’s Mexican Restaurant, Vice-Chairman David Reede, Councilman Charlie Stevens, The Drumbeat, and the Lechuga family.
The raffle winners are: Marty Kay Jones, Jimmy Hooke, Mariyah Kniffin, Ardella Swift, Jalen Peter, Alberta Rope, Bonnie Rustin, Linda Spadafino, John Mull, Sanaya Bush, Alethia Dillon, Kirt Stevens, Mildred Phillips, Nina Noland, Frankie Holmes, and Terry Brown, Jr. Please stop by the library office to claim your prize.

Globe High School Almuni Picnic took place on April 5 at Indian School Park in Scottsdale. A total of 78 people attended.

The classes from 1941 to 1973 were well represented. Joe Kleiner, Class of 55, traveled all the way from Raleigh, N.C., to attend.

Many brought their high school annuals. Old pictures of Globe and stuffed tigers were given out as door prizes.

Thank you to our photographers, Albert Porto and Joey Tickle!
Plans are now underway for our next picnic, which will take place in April 2009.
