Biking Accident Injures County Attorney Flores

By Susan K & Wayne Henderson

Gila County Attorney Daisy Flores and Dr. Timothy Trent set out for a day of bicycling early Friday, August 22. As they rode up the large summit, returning from Roosevelt Lake, Daisy was struck by a semi-truck. She was thrown approximately 25 ft., sustaining multiple injuries. She was flown to a Scottsdale hospital with a broken arm, broken pelvis and numerous other non-life threatening injuries. She has already undergone one operation on her arm.

Dr. Trent remained calm on scene but was clearly worried as he was rushed off in an unmarked law-enforcement vehicle as the Air-Evac helicopter headed for the Valley.

Ms. Flores and Dr. Trent say they are very thankful for the responsiveness of the Arizona Department of Public Safety, the Gila County Sheriff’s Office and Tri-City Fire/Paramedics. She expected to be the hospital at least 3 days, possibly more. The U.S. Forest Service also assisted on scene. In Tuesday’s board of supervisors meeting Assistant Chief Deputy Attorney Bryan Chambers said that Daisy has been busy sending e-mails to all her staff in an attempt to conduct business as usual. Copper Country News would like to extend best wished and prayers for a speedy recovery
