Meth Coalition Meets
August 28, 2008

By Mike Casillas and Wayne Henderson
The Gila County Meth Coalition met last Wednesday at the Roosevelt Lake Substation. During the meeting, coalition members noted the huge success that came from the Copper Cities Carnival, which was held at High Desert Middle School on August 9. The Meth Coalition booth (that can be found at most community events) sold 436 tickets, and raised over $3,000.
Also mentioned during the August 20 meeting was the severe need for recovery homes in both Globe and Payson. The facilities are a critical tool in the effort to successfully treat meth addicts, and often provide the only available escape from the dangerous environment associated with meth use.
The Gila County Meth Coalition will meet again at the Roosevelt Substation on Wednesday, September 17. For more information on the Meth Coalition contact Chair Claudia DalMolin at the Gila County Sheriff’s Office at 928 • 425 • 4440.
Copper Country News would like to urge the Globe - Miami and San Carlos communities to be active in the fight against meth addiction. If someone you know has a problem with meth, do not ignore the problem. By encouraging a user to seek help, you could be saving their life!
