The Sheriff’s Race…
August 27, 2008
John Armer:
It has been my honor to be your Sheriff for eight years. My wife and I have owned property and paid taxes in Gila County since 1969, I am not just running for a job. 1 am asking for your support and vote so that together with you and my dedicated employees 1 can continue the effective programs and direction in which we are moving.
Some important achievements are: Crime reduced by half; acquired $2,646,541 in grants to provide you services without your tax dollars; aggressive/effective drug enforcement reducing drugs on our streets (seized over 37,000 doses of meth in July alone) developed and supported numerous citizen, youth, and senior programs on leadership, anti-crime, and drug awareness; financially conservative maintenance of an aged jail system to ensure space to keep all offenders behind bars; developed a sex offender Web site for your use; appointments to important statewide boards and commissions allow me to bring protective laws and dollars back to Gila County; a Sheriff’s Office that is respected and managed with the professionalism that you expect and deserve.
Darrell Stubbs:
My résumé building has always been about giving back to our community. l participated in Boy Scouts, Civil Air Patrol, Kiwanis, Little League, Go-Kart racing, Volunteer FireFighter, Four-ll, and the Choir Boys to promote goodwill and prosperity for our citizens.
By participating in these organizations l have been able to first handedly witness the needs of the young citizens as well as the adult citizens. My expertise is in managing people and projects, to bring people and resources together to accomplish common goals.
As your Sheriff I will:
• Have active citizen participation in review panels and promotion boards.
• Reduce spending on non-essential equipment and vehicles that don’t deliver direct service to the citizen.
• Create a Citizen on Patrol Unit and re-vitalize the Sheriff’s Reserve Unit.
• Be responsive and proactive to the needs of the
citizens.
• Provide diligent enforcement
of crimes that impact your neighborhood.
• Initiate Neighborhood Block-watches in high crime areas.
• Create a Community Resource Unit that will sponsor and participate in youth-based activities through out the County.
• The motto of Law Enforcement is to “Protect and Serve.” l will make Service as important as Protect. Good old-fashioned law enforcement, knowing our citizens personally.
