14th Annual Run to the Rez starts Friday

SAN CARLOS — The 2017 Run to the Rez begins Friday, Oct. 6 and promises to be a weekend full of fun. 

Registration starts on Friday at 9 a.m. in front of the Apache Gold Casino and will continue all day with a charge of $25 per rider. 

The first event takes place at 11 a.m. with a casino to casino run. This 90 mile round trip run takes you from Apache Gold Casino to the new Apache Sky Casino. At noon you can relax and enjoy the chili cook off in front of the casino. 

Stick around for dusk and the cultural event. This year we are proud to have the Southern Cal Bird Singers, and Apache Singers along with several dancers. 

All day there will be a welcome party in the casino with great giveaways and music by Greywolf.

Saturday, Oct. 7 registration will open at 8 a.m. and continue until 2 p.m. in front of the Apache Gold Casino. 

The 14th Annual Run to the Rez Event line-up begins at 9:30 a.m. and leaves at 10 a.m. This run will arrive at Burdette Hall for the “Honoring Veterans Event” at 11 a.m. The poker run “Around the Mountain” will begin at Burdette Hall at the conclusion of the event. 

The traditional Apache sweat ceremony will be held at 1 p.m. at the Apache Stronghold Golf Course. Also at 1 p.m. starts the bike show hosted by Independent Riders of Globe, Arizona. The show will be held in front of the Apache Gold Casino with live music during the show by Aravapai. 

The bike show judging will take place at 4 p.m. with several classes and cash prizes. After the judging head over to the pavilion at 5 p.m. for the Run to the Rez Biker Barbecue. 

Don’t leave after dinner though, it’s time for the concert. 

At 6:30 p.m. on the main stage will be Noise Pollution, an AC/DC tribute band and Jumping Jack Flash, The Rolling Stones Re-Creation. 

After the concert will be the big drawing. You must be present to win, this drawing is for a 2017 Harley Davidson FXR-750. Happy Trails.
