Do you have a great idea for a small business you’ve wanted to launch? This will get you started: for the second year the Office of the General Manager, through Economic Development staff, have arranged an Apache business plan competition, offering a share of $8,500 in prize money - cash that would help start your unique new business. You’ve never written a business plan? Find samples online, or contact organizers of the contest to request a basic version, or request a copy of last year’s winning plan. Contest coordinators are Kodee Goseyun (kodee.Goseyun@ped.scat-nsn.gov) Kyia Jackson (kyia.jackson@ped.scat-nsn.gov)

This second annual competition is an innovative effort by the Office of the General Manager, through Economic Development staff, to promote local business development and help launch creative new small businesses that could succeed. Last year Baxter Sneezy Jr won top prize for his well-written proposal to expand his HVAC business. Anderson Betom took second with an innovative mobile oil change proposal. Proving there’s no age limit to Apache entrepreneurs, 10-year-old Kaelam Cromwell entered the competition with his yard cleaning business. Other entries ranged from Vans Nosie’s Apache Hat Company, to Gabriel Jackson’s proposal for a rodeo bucking bull stock company. Dorinda Baylish wrote a compelling business plan for a dance academy -- Palicio Ramos’ plan was for sturdy, weather-proofed doghouses.

What’s your great idea for a creative, new small business? How about a food truck selling Hot ‘n Spicy Frybread seasoned with unique items such as Takis or green curry? Cradleboards embroidered with pro sports logos? The only limit is your creativity; start writing today - email Kodee Goseyun and Kyia Jackson and request to be added to their email list for news of the October submittal deadline, which is ‘To Be Announced’.
