Abdul Saddik was born in Bombay, India to Mohammed Saddik Abdul-Aziz and Amna Omar. He was the fourth child of six siblings – Abdullah (deceased), Banuma, Abdul Kader, Ismail and Malik. His father worked for the founding King of Saudi Arabia, King Abdul Aziz Bin Saud, and Abdul and his siblings were sent to boarding school in Lebanon. After boarding school Abdul came to Arizona State University to study mechanical engineering. Eventually he recognized he had a greater love for horticulture and changed the course of his studies. Abdul met his beloved wife, Bobbie, at Mr. Lucky’s on Grand Avenue, and he describes her fiery red hair catching his eye instantly. They were married for 52 years and had two daughters, Amna and Sarah. Amna and her husband, Javier, have four daughters, Mary, Mandy, Lily and Chloe, and Sarah has a daughter, Kamryn. He was the perfect man to be in a family of women as he was so loving and nurturing. He had a smile that could light up the room and instantly made you feel noticed and special.
Abdul always felt Globe was his true home. He worked for the City of Globe in the Parks and Recreation Department and took so much pride in his work. He was an artist as well, and was a founding member of the Cobre Valley Center for the Arts. His stained-glass panel of the Old Courthouse still hangs in the center. After losing Bobbie to Covid in September of 2021, Abdul’s dementia continued to progress and he was very recently diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia.
Abdul passed peacefully on April 17, 2022 and he will be greatly missed. Family suggests donations may be made to Cobre Valley Center for the Arts, 101 N. Broad St., Globe, Az. 85501, (928) 425-0884, or planting a tree in remembrance of him.
