Adelaido “Laido” Rodriguez

Adelaido “Laido” Rodriguez, age 74, a resident of Globe, Arizona, passed away on Sunday, February 18, 2018.   

Laido was born on October 28, 1943 in Globe, Arizona to his beloved parents, Adelaido and Emilia Rodriguez.

He graduated from Globe High School and received an Associates Degree in Psychology from Gila Pueblo College.  He worked as a Laboratory Technician for over forty (40) years for the Inspiration, Cypress, Phelps Dodge and Freeport McMoran copper mining industries.  Laido was also a part-time barber for over twenty-five (25) years.  

Laido served his country bravely in the United States Marine Corps.  He was also a proud member of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) and the Elks Lodge.  Laido was highly motivated and a strong community activist.  He was very involved in many community organizations and political events.  He was a member of the Latinos Club Organization, the Mexican-American Communication Organization and the Democratic Party.  He also served on the Miami School Board for eight (8) years and as president of the Miami Little League.  

Laido loved football and enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren in their sporting activities.  He was also an avid runner and bicyclist.

Laido is preceded in death by his beloved parents, Adelaido and Emilia Rodriguez.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Maria de Jesus Rodriguez; his daughter, Isabel (Wes) Sukosky; his son, Laido (Diana) Rodriguez; his siblings, Raymond (Mary) Rodriguez, Carmen (Mike) Duran, Anita Villa, Rosie Villela, Julian (Elly) Rodriguez, Emilia (Rudy) Salas Monarrez, Luis (Lori) Rodriguez, David Rodriguez; his grandchildren, Jonathan and Jacob Sukosky; and many wonderful nieces and nephews. 

The Viewing will be from 9:30 a.m. until 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 3, 2018 at Holy Angel’s Catholic Church, 201 S. Broad St., Globe, AZ  85501; Rosary to follow at 10 a.m.; Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. The Interment with Military Honors will be at the Globe City Cemetery, 1700 Hackney Ave., Globe, AZ  85501.
