The Globe Downtown Association is pleased to partner with the City of Globe to host the Annual Christmas Light Parade.
This Saturday, Dec. 8 event, will have the theme of "The Music of Christmas." Think about a favorite Christmas song and bring it to life in lights.
The parade begins at dusk, and will have a new route this year, stretching from the teepee by Cottonwood, all the way down to Yuma Street by the train trestle. Join the Globe Downtown Association for the parade beginning, and end with the assistance from the City of Globe, City of Globe Public Works Department and the City of Globe Police Department.
Come early to visit downtown merchants, enjoy hot coffee, cocoa, fudge and more. Come play at the Depot for the annual "Read on Express" event. Watch and/or participate in the annual Broad Street Beard Battle, listen to carolers, enjoy the amazing musical talents on the CVCA bandstand, and wait to see Santa ride in his favorite Globe vintage firetruck. The parade will begin just after dusk (6 p.m.-ish). Dress appropriately, as the event will take place rain or shine.
Applications available at Cobre Valley Center for the Arts, the Globe-Miami Chamber of Commerce, the City of Globe and the law office above CVS Pharmacy.
The cutoff date for entry is the Friday prior to the parade, with early bird specials prior to that. For more information, contact parade chair Willy Thomas at 928-200-5646 or via email at [email protected], the CVCA desk at 928-425-0884, 928-425-8111, or text/call GDA manager Molly Cornwell at 480-345-7477.
Code Red, Green and Sparkles. Help Wanted.
Must enjoy work with no pay; must be willing to wear tattered-looking hot-glued green and red clothing with tights, or something equally as festive; must not be annoyed by giggling children, jingling bells, Christmas carols, smiling grandmas, sticky candy canes and hot cocoa; must be willing to diffuse any Grinch that comes near; must smile abundantly; must be willing to have their hearts healed and melted by little babies and those that are just young at heart.
If you are willing to agree to this specs list, we are looking for some elf-helpers of all ages to assist "Team Claus" for our annual amazing visit to Globe. It is one of our very favorite places on earth. This year especially, we have a lot of happy to make and we are up to the task. Please apply directly to the North Pole, or to expedite your request and get elf clothes fitted for our stay, text or call Molly at 480-345-7477, email [email protected], or get her a message via 480-425-0884 or 928-425-8111.
