Apache pottery class at San Carlos Apache Culture Center June 24-28

Posted

Classes on how to make Apache pottery will be held at the Peridot Culture Center Museum, mile marker 272, Highway 70, from Monday through Friday, June 24-28.

Up to 12 San Carlos Apache tribal members can sign up for the class, and people who sign up must make a commitment to attend the classes every day for that week. At the end of the classes, participants will have a pottery they created during that week.

Most of the materials, such as clay, to make the pottery will be available, but participants may want to bring an apron or a cover.

The pottery class is made possible through the Inter-Tribal Council of Arizona, which received a grant to reintroduce traditional Apache foods.

Sheldon Nunez, a Jicarilla Apache tribal member, will be the instructor for the class.

Call or visit the San Carlos Apache Culture Center in Peridot to sign up for the class.

The first 12 tribal members to sign up will get into the class. To register or for more information, call 928-475-2894.
