Arthur E. McGill, Jr.

Posted

Arthur E. McGill, Jr. went peacefully to be with our Lord on Feb. 5, 2019. He was born in Eldorado, Ill. on March 29, 1938. He was 80 years old, born to Arthur E. McGill, Sr. and Lori Leiflighter. He had two sisters, Neva Jane and Velma Ruth.

He moved to Arizona in 1956, where he met the love of his life, Wanda. They married on Dec. 14, 1957 and began their journey through life together. Mom was 14 and dad was 19 years old when they married. There were seven of us kids, Randy, Andy, Sheila, Audrey, Sean, Kenny and Nicky. And as the years went by and us kids made friends, mom and dad adopted them too, just like family. Their marriage lasted 61 good, long years.

He worked as a core driller for Joy Manufacturing for many years as he loved his job drilling. He is a Navy and Army veteran of many years as well. He worked hard to provide for his family and did a darn good job. His family was his main focus, especially his grandkids. If you knew my dad, you knew they were his world. He never missed a chance to tell them “I love you bigger than the world.” He loved the outdoors in his young age, especially fishing. Anything to be with his family. He’s been fighting sickness and pain for many years now. But I can say he never let it get him down. He fought till the very end. He is a true survivor and hero. We love you Dad.

Preceded in death by his parents, Arthur E. McGill, Sr., and Lori Leiflighter; his sisters Neva Jane and Velma Ruth; his son Nelson “Nicky” McGill and granddaughter Heather McGill. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Wanda (Packard) McGill; sons Kenneth McGill, Andy McGill, Randy McGill and Sean McGill, his daughters Audrey McGill and Sheila McGill. Also 12 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild whom he loved dearly.

Services will be on Saturday, March 9, 2019 at Lamont Mortuary Chapel in Globe, Ariz. at 1 p.m. Please join us in celebrating his life.
