It takes about one hour to donate blood and a donation can help save up to three lives.

Make sure to pre-arrange your appointment, call 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767) to schedule a time during the blood drive here in Globe, Tuesday, July 23 from 1 - 6 p.m. at the Globe Elks Post 2809 at 1910 East Maple Street (near Samaritan Veterinary).

First-time blood donors are always welcome at Red Cross Blood Drives; if reluctant to make that first donation, read all about the process at redcrossblood.org.

First time blood donors should be in good general health and feeling well, at least 17 years old (some states allow 16,with parental consent); weigh at least 110 pounds, and not donated blood in the last 56 days
