“Butch” Cecil L. Boswell

“Butch” Cecil L. Boswell, 80, passed away on Nov. 23, 2019. He was born on Aug. 17 ,1939, in Miami Ariz., to his loving parents Cecil and Doris Boswell.

Butch grew up in lower Miami and attended Miami schools. In his early days he worked on the Winter’s Ranch near Payson; and a few other ranches in the area.

He later started a mining career and spent many years under ground at Christmas mine. After the mine closed he then started a career working for the Gila County Sheriff’s Office and spent the next 20 years there before he retired. Butch was a member of the Gila County Divers Squad. He loved being outdoors. His passions were fishing and hunting. He loved fishing at Roosevelt Lake or any lake, stream or river, spending time at Clyde’s garage, and harassing the waitresses at Judy’s Cookhouse.

Butch was preceded in death by his parents Cecil and Doris Boswell; his ex-wife Frita Boswell, dear friend J. P. Barbee, nieces Vicki and Brandi Shelton, nephew Larry Mitchell, brother in laws Chuck Durbin, Jim Sharp, Ray Reyes, and Ron Benton, In laws Lenel (Pa) and Ethel (Granny) Mitchell.

He is survived by his children Jennifer (Cricket) Alvarez, Cecil (Jimmy) James Boswell, and step daughter Shawna Gunther, his sisters Carol Sharp, Lynis Reyes, and Ginger (Peanut) Benton, longtime friend Clyde Elmer, son in law Mat Stauffer, his grandchildren Corey, (Rachel), Devin, Ryley, Logan, Leigh Ann, D.C. Mandy, Hanna, great grandchildren Easton, and Greyson, many nieces and nephews Christine, Taffy, Chucky, Cheryl, Celes, Raelynn, Dena, and Christopher.

Services were graveside at Central Heights Cemetery Friday, Nov. 29, 2019 at 10 a.m.
