CCYS Globe Miami Piranha Swim Team 2019 swim season

Posted

Dear EDITOR:

The CCYS Globe Miami Piranha Swim Team finished the 2019 swim season at the end of July. Our team has been part of the community since the 1980s and it continues to remain strong with the outstanding efforts from so many people.

This summer we had 70 swimmers participate in our program which was an increase from 46 the previous summer.

We would like to thank our volunteers Jeannette Voelker, Kara Satter and Leslie Parker who spend countless hours organizing prior to the season and throughout the time the children are in the pool.

This summer we had Barry Schwenk returning as our head coach for a second year. As a result of Coach Barry’s expertise, the team members were able to improve on their swimming techniques and strengths during the season.

The entire swim team and parents are very thankful for Coach Barry’s interest in coaching and his involvement in the program.

The Piranhas would also like to thank the Town of Miami, the pool managers and the lifeguards. We held practice five mornings a week and hosted one home meet at the Hostetler Pool this season. Additionally, the Piranhas would like to thank the community members who continue to support the team.

We appreciate the generous support during our fundraiser this past April. We want to keep swim team an affordable sport in the community.

The Piranha Swim Team appreciates all the love and support from individuals and businesses that have contributed in ways to help our program continue to be the positive program that it has been for years.

The team members not only learn to compete, but they learn skills that are life long and potentially lifesaving skills. We know there is a need to have a new community pool, not only for hosting a local swim team but for children and adults use for recreation, swim lessons, water aerobics, and physical therapy. Additionally, we know that it would help retain active families in our community.

Lastly, we would like to thank the swim team members and their families. Our team has an exceptional group of youth, both new swimmers and returning swimmers. They are an exceptional group of kids that work hard, respect one another and have the comradery that is admirable.

Every parent should be proud of their swim team child. We are looking forward to the 2020 swim team season! See you next summer.

With Great Appreciation,

CCYS Globe Miami Piranha Swim Team
