Centennial kick off is Monday

MIAMI — Town of Miami will Kick off the Centennial Celebration on Monday, March 5 with a cannon shot and proclamation at Bullion Plaza located at 150 N. Plaza Cir. There will be two chances to catch the show. The first one will be at 8 a.m. and the second one will be at 4 p.m.

This momentous event will continue on Saturday, Mar. 10. The festivities will begin with an open house at Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Church located at 844 Sullivan St. from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. 

Starting at 10 a.m. at the Miami Memorial Library located at 282 S. Adonis Ave. you can tour the Sports Hall of Fame until 11 a.m. Also starting at 10 a.m. will be Mi Vida Car Show/Kids activities going until 4 p.m. at Bullion Plaza.

Then go down Sullivan St. and enjoy the sights and sounds at the Golden Oldies Car Show going until 3 p.m.

The rest of the daysevents will take place at Bullion Plaza. There will be two showings from a dance group-the first one from noon to 1 p.m. and the second from 3 to 4 p.m. Then hurry over to the Inspiration room to enjoy the music of the Centennial Jazz Band from 4 to 5 p.m.

For those that entered, or know somebody who has entered the essay contest, the judging and ceremony will take place from 4 to 4:30 p.m.

There will be music throughout the day in the Inspiration Room as well as vendors set up outside of the museum.

For those who already have tickets, there will be the Globe Miami Chamber of Commerce social hour in the Bullion Gym from 5:30 to 6:30 and dinner and program from 6:30 to 8:30. Food choices are Mexican food or Pasties. Music will be provided by Neto and the Band Imagine.

There will be no ticket sales at the door so call the Chamber at 928-425-4495 to get your tickets for this fun ending to a great celebration.
