Cinco De Mayo Celebration in downtown Globe

As part of the Holy Angels Catholic Church Centennial celebration, in cooperation with the City of Globe, the annual Cinco De Mayo Celebration will take place on Saturday, May 5 on the corner of Broad and Sycamore streets from 10:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Community members are invited to attend a 9 a.m. Mass in English and Spanish at Holy Angels Catholic Church. The Mariachis will lead in singing.

After mass all in attendance will proceed across the street for the opening ceremonies of the fiesta. Ceremonies will open with the JROTC, and Globe Mayor Al Gameros will provide the opening speech. The winners of the La Reina de Los Angeles Cinco de Mayo Pageant will be announced.

The La Reina de Los Angeles Cinco de Mayo Pageant participants this year are Alejandra Dorame, Neveah Dorame, Deja Myers, Madisyn King, Sonja Robles, Brielle Sanchez, Gia Armenta, Izabell Badilla, Addie Jenson and Marissa Sanchez.

The day will. Be filled with good food and entertainment. Big John is the DJ, Mariachis Estrello, Power Elite Dance Studio (formerly known as Lynn’s School of Dance), Gus Parker as Elvis, Ron Chelsey, Neto and the Band Imagine will perform.

There will be food booths, vendor booths, the famous beer garden, a jumping castle for the kids and piñatas.

The event will continue with dancing until 9 p.m. featuring the music of Neto and the Band Imagine.
