Get set to celebrate America’s most sacred holiday with the Cobre Valley Independence Day Celebration. Look forward to a weekend full of events for the whole family.

Kick off the evening on Friday, July 1, with the First Friday event in Historic Downtown Globe.

Saturday morning, July 2, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., head out to the gun range for an open house event for the whole family with the Globe-Miami Gun Club, located 2.5 miles from the highway north on Bixby Rd. Experts and newbies welcomed. Learn about proper firearm handling and care. Bring your own, or shoot one on hand; limited ammo will be provided, including an AR style rifle, 9mm, 38 Special pistols and .22 rimfire rifles and pistols. Join in the .22 golf ball shoot and test your aim!

Gear back up for the evening of Saturday, July 2, for Rodeo Style family fun at the Gila Co. Cattle Growers grounds off Hwy. 188 across from the Bixby Rd. turnoff. Games, competitions and showcases are on the way. Our audience will be more than spectators! Stay tuned…

Sunday, July 3, Events TBA…

Monday, July 4, 8 a.m. Opening ceremonies begin for this year’s Patriotic Parade down Sullivan St. in Miami. Celebrate 246 years of American independence witnessing the Legion Riders’ epic flag escort, followed by local talent singing the national anthem. Enjoy this year’s historical skit on the street performed by the Copper Cities Players. Relish the music of our own Centennial Band, or join the parade! Enter the float competition for a chance to win the Patriot’s Award of $100, sponsored by Rural Air. Recording services will be provided by T-D Drones.

Stop by the Globe-Miami Chamber of Commerce in Globe or C&Ces Auction on Sullivan St. in Miami to pick up a parade entry form.

Monday, July 4, 11 a.m. Head over after the parade to the American Legion Hall located on South Broad St. for a community potluck luncheon. Bring the family and a healthy appetite, and shake the hand of a veteran while you’re there! There will be tons of food and community patriotic spirit to share!

Monday, July 4, 5 p.m. Get set for the evening with a community tailgate party located on the Hilltop Motors lot on the southwest corner of Hwy. 60. Bring your BBQ grill and responsible beverages. Your host, the Cobre Valley Republican Club, will be providing music from local DJ Shon Bywater and some summertime treats!
