Dorothy Mavis Benjamin, 91, was born on May 9, 1928 and passed away on Nov. 9, 2019 at Chandler Regional Medical Center with her husband of 72 years, her three children and most of her seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren at her bedside.

Dorothy was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother and she lived for her family.

Dorothy was born in Miami, Ariz. to Victor and Mavis Benselin. After graduating from Miami High School, she went to work for the Miami Copper Company as a telephone operator. She married Harold Benjamin on June 7, 1947. She continued to work until her first child was born. Some years later she also worked at the Copper Hills Motel Gift Shop and worked there for several years.

She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and served as the Sunshine Chairman of the Women of Worship. As such, she sent holiday greeting cards to the elderly members of the church. She also sent out greeting cards, bereavement, get well and thinking of your cards. She took her job very seriously. If you had a need and she had your address you got a card. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Pinal Mountain Homemakers and Fraternal Order of Police Auxiliary. She was a faithful volunteer at the Gila County Humane Society Boutique.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents Victor and Mavis Benselin and her brother Donald Roberts. She is survived by her husband, Harold, of 72 years, her children Linda Soderman (John), Michael Benjamin (Barbara) and Harold Benjamin (Diana), seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. She will be sorely missed by her loving family and her friends.

Services were held on Monday, Nov. 18, 2019 at St Paul’s Lutheran Church 750 W. Paxton Ave. Miami Az 85539. Visitation was at 9 a.m., Funeral Services at 10 a.m. with Interment immediately following at Pinal Cemetery.
