Early voting? Request a ballot by Friday deadline

Gila County registered voters: want to avoid election day lines or drama at the polls? Voters have until Friday, Oct. 23,  to request an early ballot, which can be filled out at home, then dropped off in-person any weekday at Gila County Recorder Sadie Bingham’s office on the east side of the county courthouse, or outdoors any day, 24-7, in the secure solid steel ballot dropbox stationed at the northwest corner of the county courthouse, for “drive-thru” delivery. One of eight similarly secure dropboxes throughout Gila County, the box outside the county courthouse is closely monitored and frequently emptied by county recorder’s office staff. Ballot dropboxes are also outside Winkleman Town Tall, Tonto Basin Library, the San Carlos Apache Tribal Administration Building and the fire station in Young.

Want to avoid election day polls and vote today or soon, even if you didn’t request an early ballot? In-person early voting is a Monday through Friday option during business hours at the county recorder’s offices in Globe and Payson. What’s required? Participant must be a registered voter, and the final deadline to register was Oct. 15. Bring a Voter Registration Card and Arizona drivers license or other form of valid and official identification. Bring a mask or face covering, too; while the Covid-19 pandemic  continues, that’s required for your safety and the communal safety of other voters and Gila County staff in order to enter the Gila County Courthouse as well as the County Recorder’s Office in Payson.
