Easter weekend fun in downtown Globe on April 20

Posted

The Globe Downtown Association is happy to announce the 2019 Easter Parade.

Join the celebration on Saturday, April 20 for the 11th Annual Easter Parade walking stroll in historic downtown Globe.

The parade is based on the classic holiday movie and song with the old tradition of taking a stroll to welcome spring. For this walking parade/stroll down and around historic Broad Street, participants promenade from the train depot museum to walk the sidewalks making the grand loop back to the depot.

Think of hats, parasols and finery or a favorite pet donned with a bow.

Join the fun from 9:30 a.m. to noon in Globe’s historic downtown in full “Easter Parade” film style, or simply as a spectator on a morning of meet, greet and smiles while discovering Globe’s historic downtown on foot. There will be a history scavenger hunt, light refreshments, prizes and more.

This event is free to the public and fun for all ages. Check-in starts at 9 a.m. at the 1916 train depot, located at 230 S. Broad St., and the stroll starts at about 10 a.m.

The Easter Bunny and his friends will be on hand at both the depot and the old courthouse for photos throughout the event, so bring cameras and don’t forget to “tag” the event on Facebook (Globe Historic Downtown or Historic Globe Main Street Program) to enter to win a social media surprise prize.

New this year is the “Running of the Carrots.” For silly bonus fun, come dressed as a carrot to get in on the photo-op shenanigans. (No major running involved … yet.)

The Easter Parade/Stroll rain or shine event is sponsored by the Globe Downtown Association/Historic Globe Main Street Program.
