Elvis at the Miami Memorial Library Feb. 9/senior Center updates

The Friends of the Miami Memorial Library is pleased to announce an exciting upcoming fundraising event for the library. On Saturday, Feb. 9, Gus Park will be presenting his “Tribute to Elvis” show at 2 p.m. Join us for the Elvis Performance and “Dessert with Elvis” to enjoy an array of Elvis-inspired refreshments and treats. 

Tickets for this special event are $10 per person with all proceeds going to fund media cabinets for the Miami Library. Tickets are available at the Miami Memorial Library and the Miami Town Hall. For more information contact Sue Pontel, Miami Library Manager, at 928-473-2621 during library hours, Tuesday through Friday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The Friends will also be holding a raffle for a Valentine Day gift basket filled with beautiful goodies valued at $200 along with other themed baskets. Raffle tickets are $1 each or six tickets for $5. The winner need not be present to win. Raffle tickets are available now at the library or from a member of the Friends.

Miami Senior Center update

MIAMI — The Miami Senior Center at 506 W. Live Oak St. offers lunch Monday through Friday Call 928-473-4190. The suggested donation is $2.

Thursday, Feb. 7 — Bingo

Menu: Chef salad, pear slices, whole grain crackers, fig newton.

Friday, Feb. 8 — Coffee Club, 8-10 a.m., Karaoke, 10:30 a.m.

Menu: Spinach lasagna, mixed veggies, coleslaw, bread stick, mixed fruit.

Monday, Feb. 11 — Coffee Club, 8-10 a.m., $2 Biscuit and gravy.

Menu: Turkey wrap, zucchini and tomato, Italian veggies, orange.

Tuesday, Feb. 12 — Loteria.

Menu: Ginger-pepper steak, carrots and Japanese veggies, pear slices, brown rice, roll.

Wednesday, Feb. 13 — Coffee Club, 8-10 a.m., $2 Biscuit and gravy, Karaoke, 10:30 a.m.

Menu: Grilled chicken and tomatoes, cauliflower and broccoli, wheat roll, cantaloupe.

All meals are served with 1 percent milk.

Miami Senior Center cannot deliver homebound meals without authorization from a case manager. Many people believe that they just have to call the center to receive a meal, but they must be referred through Pinal-Gila Council for Senior Citizens. Call 1-800-293-9393.

Globe Active Adult Center update

Menu: Tuna casserole, brussels sprouts, peas, wheat roll, mixed fruit.

All meals served with 2-percent milk.
