GLOBE - Community members are invited to explore the great outdoors and participate in free activities at the “Healthy Holidays on the Trail” event on Saturday, Dec. 2, 2017.

The event is hosted by the Pinal Creek Trail Committee; families and kids of all ages are encouraged to join in on various activities along the Globe Ledge Trail.

The “fun and free” walk along the trail will feature giveaways, games, and a chance to take pictures with a ”Fit Santa.”

The event is also an opportunity to learn more about local efforts to revitalize the Pinal Creek Trail. “Our local trails are a valued part of our community here in Gila County.

Trails promote physical activity and have been shown to reduce stress and foster community interaction,” said Bethany Cheney, Community Health Policy Analyst with the Gila County Department of Public Health.

Healthy Holidays on the Trail is organized by the Pinal Creek Trail Committee, which is made up of the Gila County Department of Public Health, Arizona Health Zone, Pinnacle Prevention, University of Arizona Watershed Program, and the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT).

The event will take place at Old Dominion Park, located off Highway 60 and Murphy Street in Globe, AZ. All activities are free and will run from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m.
