First impressions count

Dear Editor:

I was driving from Tucson through Globe and decided to make a detour through the historic district. My first view upon entering Globe was the Hill Street School, a once majestic building that has been allowed to become sadly neglected and dilapidated, with a majority of windows broken out and weeds knee high. I almost turned around but decided to continue and was pleased to find a downtown made up of nice, historic buildings, shops, restaurants and very friendly people. I wanted to point out that first impression do count, and other people may be deterred from exploring your town based on this off-putting and uninviting gateway into your otherwise lovely downtown.
