Frederico “Lico” Rodela Alderete passed away in Tucson, Ariz. on Sept. 13, 2019 at the age of 70.

Frederico Alderete is survived by wife Ruby C. Alderete, children Jessica Quesada (Ben), Freddie Alderete (Krystal) and Steven Alderete. He left behind 12 grand children: Brianna, Cassandra, Alyssa, Melanie, Yarasette, Benjamin, Raquel, Maricela, Christopher, Rico, Steven, Rodolfo.

He is preceded in death by his parents Juliana Licano Lopez (Safford) and Monico Alderete (Safford), his son Christopher Steven Alderete, his brothers Eugene Alderete, Benito, Guillermo, and his sister Pauline.

Frederico was born on Sept. 15, 1948 in Safford, Ariz. to Juliana and Monico Alderete. He graduated from Colorado High School. He joined the Army in 1969 and served to 1971 when he was honorably discharged. He was sent overseas to fight in the Vietnam War. He was a combat medic while serving.

He worked at several mines to include Magma Copper mines, Morenci Mines and Nevada mine.  He then freelanced as a handyman for years and helped people who otherwise could not afford to get many of their household issues fixed. His last job was working at the Copper Basin Railway where he eventually retired from in 2011.   

He was the Hayden Winkelman Little League president for several years, a coach for both little league and the local basketball league. He was also known for having one of the best Halloween Houses in Indian Hills park! People from all over would come to walk through his scary haunted houses!!

A Memorial Service was scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 3, 2019 at  noon at Arizona Veterans Memorial Cemetery: 15950 N. Luckett Road, Marana, Ariz.  85653.

A luncheon in honor of Frederico Rodela Alderete was held at 11 a.m., Friday, Oct. 4, 2019 at the Hayden Golf Club, Hayden, Ariz. 85135.
