Gem and Mineral Show coming in January

Posted

The annual Gem and Mineral Show will be held at the Gila County Fairgrounds Jan. 14, 15 and 16. This will be a fun time for rock and mineral collectors, fossil hobbyists and kids of all ages. The show runs from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. Students and children are admitted free and adults are $3 per person or $5 per couple.

There will be over 40 displays, numerous vendors displaying their wares and products, and interesting demonstrations. Lapidary equipment, jewelry, books, mineral specimens, copper art and much more will be offered. There will also be demonstrations of silversmithing, cabachon forming, wire wrapping and more.

The Pinal Mountain Elks Lodge No. 2809 will be there ready to take your food order. Breakfast burritos will be available to order in the morning. Their menu offers a variety to choose from that will satisfy everyone.

Don’t miss our additional activities room filled with adventure and fun for everyone, including the Fossil and Gem Pit, where your child can dig through the sand pits and try to find as many specimens as they can per minute, and of course what they find they keep. Spin for prizes at the Wheel of Fortune. Decorate your own copper tree with rocks, gems and beads, or try your luck in the duck pond; catch a duck and see what prize you won (expect a small fee for these activities).
