Globe Public Library update for March

Globe: Globe Public Library is located at 339 S. Broad Street. The phone number is 928-425-6111. Globe Library is open by appointment only, Monday –Friday 8:30 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. Appointments are available as follows: 8:30-9:30 a.m., 9:45 - 10:45 a.m., 11 a.m. – noon, 12:30 -1:30 p.m., 1:45 – 2:45 p.m. and 3 – 3:45 p.m. Masks are required to enter and hand sanitizing stations are available throughout the library. 

Globe Public Library has a patron survey. We want to learn what we can do better to serve our community. Your constructive feedback is welcome. Events 

March 4 – Mission to Mars Ground Missions is at 3 p.m. Now that Perseverance has landed safely on Mars, we will be doing a series of Ground Missions in honor of the 2-year mission of Perseverance on Mars. Make sure to stop by the Globe Public Library to pick up your Grab and Go Mars Kit.

March 5 – Read America/Dr. Seuss Birthday Drive-thru celebration. Come on over to the Globe Public Library and help us celebrate Read America and Dr. Seuss’ Birthday. The drive-thru birthday party will start at noon. The Cat in the Hat and Things 1 & 2 will be there to hand out the party bags while supplies last.

March 9, 16, 23, 30 - Virtual Family Storytime with Robin is at 9:30 a.m. We will have a grab-and-go kit to go with each storytime. These can be picked up any time after storytime, all week.

The 1,000 Books before Kindergarten Program is starting at the Globe Public Library. This program is to help children read 1,000 books before entering kindergarten and encouraging lifelong reading habits. You can register online at https://globepubliclibrary.azsummerreading.org/ or come to the Globe Public Library for the paper form. If you have used the summer reading program online, you can use the same login to register for 1,000 Books. For every 100 books, children will receive a reward. For every 100 books, they read. They will receive a grand prize when they finish the 1,000 books.

Attention High School Seniors Globe Public Library has Civics Flash Cards and Pocket Study Guides for the Naturalization Test, which is similar to the Civics test you are required to take to graduate. They are available in both English and Spanish. You can come by the Globe Public Library to get these study aids.

AZ Poppy Fest Coloring Contest Rules

Entry: This contest is open to children in grades K-8. There is only one entry allowed per person. To enter, download the coloring page from AZpoppyfest.com, print out the page, color it however you’d like, or you can pick up a coloring page from the following participating downtown Globe businesses: Oasis Printing, Bouquets on Broad, Matt Storms of American Family Insurance, Cobre Valley Center for the Arts (CVCA Building), and Globe Public Library. You need to return entries no later than noon on March 5, to any of the above-listed businesses. Be sure to include child’s name and age on the front of the page, and parent or guardian’s phone number and email address on the back of the entry. Here are the categories: Grades K-2, Grades 3-5, and Grades 6-8.

Entries will be judged based on creativity. Decisions are at the discretion of the AZpoppyfest.com Committee and are subject to change at any time. We reserve the right to award multiple winners and prizes, or no winners and prizes. Entries will be judged on March 5, and announced on March 6 at noon from the CVCA steps. They will notify the winner at noon from the Cobre Valley Center for the Arts stairs and by email and phone. The winner of each age group will receive a prize. The contest ends on March 5 at noon. All entries must be submitted by this time, any entrees filed at 12:01 p.m. or after will not qualify.

Services 

We are also offering curbside pick-up. You can call the library or request books and DVDs online and pick them up from the comfort of your car. Just give the library a call at 928-425-6111 when you get to the library, and we will run the materials out to you. 

We are now offering wireless printing. You can print from your phone, laptop, or desktop computer from home. You need to download the “Princh” app from the App Store or Google Play or open your browser and type: print.princh.com in the address line. Open your document and select “Print.” Be sure to choose the Globe Public Library Printer #103148. The costs are the same, $0.25 per page. You can choose to pay by credit card or select pay at the desk. Then just come to the library to pick up your prints.  

Due to Covid-19, we have to quarantine all returned materials for seven days before checking in. All fines will be waived during this time. Now is a great time to return anything that you have out. All fines are waived when they are returned.
