Nominations for the Golden Service Award are open now, with nomination forms or letters being accepted until the deadline of 5 p.m. on Thursday, June 8 at the Globe-Miami Chamber of Commerce, sponsor of the award.
Designed to recognize a senior citizen for many years of dedicated volunteer service to local nonprofits, schools, museums, churches and more, the winner will be announced at the chamber’s annual dinner on June 22.
The Globe-Miami Chamber of Commerce makes this annual award because it recognizes the work being done by some of the many volunteers in the community and recognizes the contributions in time and talent these many volunteers give.
To be eligible, the nominee(s) must be at least 60 years of age, retired, and have demonstrated a long-time pattern of volunteerism.
A nomination form is available at the chamber or on its website, www.globemiamichamber.com. Letters are also acceptable, but should include extensive information on the type and length of volunteer work, as well as contact information for the letter writer.
Nominations are due by 5 p.m. Thursday, June 8.
The annual dinner will be June 22 at the Dream Manor Inn. Tickets are $35 a person. In addition to the Golden Service Award, the Business of the Year will be announced.
This is also the annual membership meeting for the chamber. For more information, please call the chamber of commerce at 928-425-4495.
