Servondo Henry, an experienced firefighter, knew he wanted a career in firefighting early on. His passion began with his first job as a Wildland firefighter. Sevondo holds two degrees in Fire Science. One from Eastern Arizona College and one from Mesa Community College. He also has a degree in Emergency Management and has been a paramedic since 2006. He worked for a private ambulance company in the Valley for nine years and is currently working for Tri City Fire District where he has been for 11 years.

This fall, Sevondo is teaching Introduction to Fire Science (FSC100). He recommends this course to anyone considering a career in Fire. FSC100 focuses on structure fire. Students will learn basic fire principles and the general idea of fire behavior: why things burn, the byproducts of when things burn, and what fire releases.

“Firefighting is more than a job. It’s a lifestyle.,” said Servondo. The bond formed with the people you work with is unbreakable, it’s truly a brotherhood”

Introduction to Fire Science will be held on Tuesdays from 6 to 8:50 p.m. at EAC Gila Pueblo Campus beginning Aug. 25, 2020. Register by calling the Administration Office at 928-425-8481. Financial Aid is available for students who qualify.
