Get ready for the Gila County Fair Sept. 21 through 24. Start your fair fun on Thursday with livestock shows, and the opening of the carnival. Seniors, veterans and active military get in free.
On Friday bring the whole family for 4-H Old Fashioned Fair Night at the Livestock Barn, featuring raffles, games and a silent auction, all to benefit cancer victims Dez Valtierra Self and Ronnie Attaway.
Saturday make it an all-day affair starting with the team roping challenge, moving on to the popular demolition derby, Go-Karts and, finally, a performance by Chris Kane. Wind down the weekend on Sunday with 4-H and FFA awards and the livestock auction.
Gila County Fair History
The Gila County Fairgrounds is located just north of Globe on US 60. The first fair was held in 1970 with only a grandstand, some old wooden horse corrals and a race track. The fairgrounds has since grown to include a rodeo arena, multiple exhibit halls, a go-cart track, and an RV Park.
