Johnny C. Madrid passed away the morning of Jan. 19, 2023, with his son Michael by his side. He was 84 years old.
Johnny was born on June 24, 1938, in Miami to Edmundo and Soledad Madrid. He was one of 10 siblings.
He married Annie Laurias on Feb. 9, 1957, and they had eight children: Anita, JoAnn (Denny), Christine, John (Margaret), Michael, Corrina, Ruben and Ben (Tori).
His career was in the mines; starting as a laborer, he put himself through school and became a journeyman instrumentation electrician. He also served eight years in the Armed Reserves.
His work ethic was strong, as was his determination to provide for his family. His dream was to build a house on the hill above his childhood home. He made that dream a reality and the Madrid family moved into that house under the “M” in 1966.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Edmundo and Soledad, and his siblings Edmundo Jr., Ernesto, Gilbert, Enriqueta, Celia and Lorenza. He is survived by siblings Hilario, Josephine and Rudolpho; eight children; 16 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
Services for Johnny will be at Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Church on Saturday, January 28 at 9:30 a.m., with a Rosary and Mass. Burial will be at Mountain Breeze followed by a reception back at the hall.
The family is being assisted by Bulman Miles Funeral Services, Globe.
