Manuel R. Gonzales, lifelong resident of Miami, Az., was born May 19, 1934 to Trinidad and Refugia Gonzales.

Manuel was a graduate of Miami High School and a lifelong supporter of the Miami Vandals.

After high school he proudly served in the U.S. Army 1953-1956, stationed in various areas, France being his favorite.

Upon returning to the Globe-Miami area, he began employment with the Inspiration Consolidated Copper Mining Company. He believed in ethics of the Union, the progression and equality to ensure the relationships between the mining company and the miners. During resolution issues for improved benefits, salaries and fairness for the miners, it came with challenging times of the strikes. During these strikes, he stayed committed to supporting his large family, yet be helpful to those also in need. The transitions of the mining curtailments let to opportunity to attend college classes where he pursued the trade of carpentry. His career would span 38 years until retirement in 1994.

He married Adeline Falquez in 1957. Together this unity would create nine children. 39 grand-children and 72 great-grandchildren. As the pillar of the family, he would encourage unity. He provided strength, support, and stability for our family. He stood by us, and his guidance provided security for the ups and downs of our lives. His caring heart, warm embrace and unwavering commitment to his children and his wife, Adeline was truly inspiring.

Manuel was a devout Catholic, Loved God and was strong in Faith. A lifelong member of Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Church. He was very proud to have attended Catholic Cursillos and Ultreya retreats. His ongoing disciplined commitment deepened daily in his spirituality and relationship with God.

He was proud in being a member of the Knights of Columbus. His title of “Knight of the Year” was a most proud honor.

A man of great talent, both musically and artistically. Shy yet humorous in every encounter. He loved people, liked to joke and laugh, and hear and tell stories of days gone by.

On November 19, 2017 Manuel suffered the greatest loss of his life in the passing of his wife Adeline. For the next 41 days, his heartbreak was undeniable. His longing for her was unmistaken, and on December 31, 2017 he peacefully departed into the hands of God and unity of his wife.
