Miami’s Small Town Christmas a success

MIAMI — The cold weather didn’t stop the crowd from showing up to visit Santa and Mrs. Claus on Saturday, Dec. 16 from 10 a.m. to noon.

The town of Miami has been hosting small town Christmas for over 25 years bringing Christmas joy to the community. The event was free for everyone, with plenty of activities to keep the children busy.

Books were given out by the Gila County Library, and Gila County Sheriffs Department was giving away bags full of goodies. Miami High School Students volunteered helping with the activity tables for cupcake decorating, face painting and ornaments.

Hot cocoa and coffee were available throughout the event as well.

Carolers were singing around the park to help bring in the Christmas cheer.

Bikes and wrapped presents were raffled off to any of the children who wanted to put their names in the drawing.

Not one child left empty handed, Santa made sure of it. Each one received a stuffed animal, a stocking full of goodies, and a cookie after visiting with him and Mrs. Claus.
