Myrtle Harmon

Myrtle Othella Harmon, 102, of Miami Ariz., passed away on Sept. 9, 2019 at the West Wing Adult Care Facility in Peoria Ariz.

Born on Feb. 16, 1917 in Howell, Texas, the daughter of Mary (Chaney) and Lemuel Harmon.

The middle child of eight children, she had five brothers and two sisters. The Harmon family moved to Cache, Oklahoma where she met and married Carl Cecil Harmon in 1935. They were together for 72 years until his death in 2007 at age 94.

Myrtle and Carl and four-year-old daughter Carlene moved to Miami in 1940 and had son Douglas there. Myrtle worked several places until the mid-70’s including the YMCA, the ICCCO store, the commercial store and Pete’s Country store. She then became a homemaker and babysitter for her grandchildren. Myrtle belonged to the Eastern Star, served as Mother to Rainbow Girls and became a member of the United Methodist Church in Claypool. Myrtle loved her dogs and cats and treated them like family. She loved the mountains and being outdoors and fishing. Myrtle was very much loved by her family who was happy to have “NANA” for such a long wonderful time.

Myrtle Harmon leaves behind daughter Carlene Kidd of Miami, Ariz., son Douglas Leon Harmon of Sun City, Ariz., five grandchildren and spouses, six great grandchildren and spouses and six great great-grandchildren.

Services will be held on Friday, Sept. 20, 2019 at Bulman Miles Funeral Services Chapel in Globe. Viewing will be at 9 a.m., Funeral Service at 11 a.m. with interment to follow at Globe City Cemetery.
