GLOBE, Arizona — A new publisher is in place at the Copper Country News with the announcement that Richard Taylor has joined the operation.
Taylor, who comes with nearly 40 years of experience producing newspapers and magazines, began in his duties on Monday, Aug. 5.
“We are very excited with the career experience and leadership Richard brings to the Silver Belt office,” said News Media Corporation Group Publisher JJ Tompkins. “He is a very accomplished industry professional in the newspaper business and has also owned and built up several highly successful niche magazine publications in several states.
Taylor is a native of Arizona and began working with newspapers at a young age, handling a paper route as a teenager with the Phoenix American, and then working as an assistant circulation manager with the Tempe Daily News while in high school.
After high school, Taylor joined the Arizona Republic in Phoenix, starting in dispatch prior to proofreading legal publications and eventually moving into outside advertising sales.
He moved on to serve as advertising director and publisher of a newspaper group at America Publishing in the Los Angeles, California area with a total circulation of more than 90,000.
Later, Taylor excelled in the real estate publishing business and create and operated real estate magazines in Nevada, New Mexico, Tennessee and New England before coming back to his home state in the past few years.
“I look forward to hitting the ground running and meeting local public officials, business leaders and residents who look to the local newspapers for quality in-depth news stories and human interest features they can’t get anywhere else,” said Taylor, who is a revenue specialist. “I am very excited about serving here in the Globe, Miami and San Carlos communities. It is a great area with a rich history and I plan to call on my knowledge and background to help the Silver Belt, Copper Country News and Moccasin thrive as credible news sources.”
Taylor has been married to his wife, Rosalee, for nearly 45 years. Rosalie is a high school English teacher with a master’s degree in education. The couple have three children, Richard Jr., who is a disabled military veteran, Rosalee Carrie, who is an architect, and William, who is an assistant U.S. attorney in Alaska.
