Old Dominion Park volunteer cleanup day

Posted

A Volunteer Day is planned Saturday, April 27 at the Old Dominion Historic Mine Park in Globe.

Save the date and plan on spending a few hours sprucing up the park. Volunteers will take to the trails from 7-11 a.m. for a volunteer day focused on trail clearing and cleanup.

Community and civic groups and individuals are invited to come out to help continue the work on this gem of a park. Work will concentrate on cleaning trails and display areas, beginning at 7 a.m. Water and snacks will be provided, and it is recommended that volunteers wear long pants and closed-toed shoes and bring gloves, sunscreen and a hat.

Anyone with tools they would be willing to donate for the day such as rakes, hoes and clippers is encouraged to bring them.

Old Dominion Mine Park t-shirts will be given to volunteers.

Old Dominion is a wonderful addition to Globe’s park system, with trails ranging from easy to moderate. And each trail offers a wealth of information on the history of the mine, Globe and mining in general. Park access is off Murphy Street past DeMarco’s.

Any group interested in participating can leave contact information with the chamber of commerce, at 425-4495. All volunteers are welcome.
