The following is a report from the Globe Police Department:
On Tuesday, Aug. 14, 2018 around 12:34 p.m., Globe Police Department responded to the area of Junction 70/77 in reference to a two-vehicle collision. It was reported that two-vehicles collided head-on with each other.
As officers arrived on the scene, they began attending to injured passengers in both vehicles, and gathering witness statements.
Once the scene was contained and the investigation began, officers identified the drivers of both vehicles. Theresa Sanchez was driving a Blue 2004 Dodge Durango, and the driver of the second vehicle was identified as Vicente Richey, who was driving a Brown 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee.
One of the passengers, Mary Benitez, was pronounced deceased on scene. A death notification has been made to the family of the victim in the collision.
All passengers and drivers in both vehicles were transported to valley area hospitals for treatment.
The investigation is ongoing.
