Payson Fire adapted Community Plan, Thursday Webinar

Registration is not required, the cost is free -- but the information to Gila County homeowners is priceless.

Kevin McCully, City of Payson Fuels Manager at the Payson Fire Department, is the featured guest speaker Thursday, Sept. 17 for this week’s online webinar hosted by University of Arizona Cooperative Extension Gila County.

These Zoom webinars last about an hour, featuring a variety of horticultural and natural resource topics relevant to the environmental conditions and residential concerns of Gila County. Devastating forest fires this year brought action on Payson’s new Fire Adapted Community Plan Town Code, which Kevin McCully will explain Thursday. He is a retired CalFire San Diego County fire captain with over 30 years of firefighting experience. Throughout his career McCully has worked as a fire inspector, deputy fire marshal, engineer, tactical medic supervisor and fire captain. The newly adopted Firewise code addresses the vegetation on all properties within town limits, including land owned by the town. The adoption of this code shows how serious Payson takes the dangers of wildfire and how the Town Council and Mayor are committed to address this threat to the Town’s safety.
