Pinal Mountain Elks celebrate Flag Day

Susanne Jerome/Copper Country News Danny Sanchez and Elk Chaplin Pete Gardea raise the flag.

The Pinal Mountain Elks held their 101st Flag Day celebration in a circumscribed manner because of the coronavirus. And for the same reason few attended their 10 to 11:30 a.m. drive through flag handout.  They did raise the flag to the salute of fire fighters from San Carlos. Boy Scout Troop #101, whom the Elks have aided for years couldn’t show up. The colors were not posted but after the flag was raised, Debbie Edwards, Teresa Sanchez, Danny Sanchez, and Pete Gardea did discuss the history of the flag and their next two dinners on Wednesday June 17 (Mexican food), and Friday June 19, (Steak).
