Pinal Mountain Section of the Society for Mining, Metallurgy and Exploration scholarships awarded

The Pinal Mountain Section of the Society for Mining, Metallurgy and Exploration (SME) awarded seven scholarships during its May 20 meeting, held at the Elks Lodge in Globe.

Six of the seven recipients attended the meeting with their families.

David Pena, Miami High School student with a 3.61 grade point average (GPA), received two Jack Eastlick Scholarships in the amount of $2,000. Pena plans to attend Northern Arizona University (NAU) in Flagstaff, after graduation.

A student at NAU, LeAnn Foxworth received a $3,000 college scholarship. She has a GPA of 3.35.

Miami High School student Avery Arce, who has a 3.76 GPA,  received a $1,000 Jack Eastlick Scholarship. Arce plans to attend the Cobre Valley Institute of Technology after graduation.

Kelsey Jensen, a student at Southern Utah University, received a $2,000 college scholarship. Jensen has a 3.85 GPA.

A student at NAU, Ysabel Eylicio received a $3,000 college scholarship. Eylicio has a 3.44 GPA.

Darin Guerena, a Liberty High School student with a 3.89 GPA, received a $1,000 Jack Eastlick Scholarship. Guerena plans to attend Eastern Arizona College after graduation.

A Globe High School student with a 3.76 GPA, Daniel Widner received two Jack Eastlick Scholarships in the amount of $2,000. Widner plans to attend Embry Riddle University after graduation.
