The 2017 Globe/Miami Christmas Read-On Express is almost here.  It is scheduled to roll down the tracks on December 9, 2017 from noon to 5 pm at the Historic Train Depot in Globe.  Last year, more than 851 happy children and their families experienced the 2nd Read-On Express and we expect even more kids this year.  Each child will receive many surprises such as an ornament with their Christmas wish written on it, play a holiday photo game, Mrs. Claus will read a book to them, they can write a letter to Santa, meet elves, receive a candy cane, take pictures with Santa, pick out a book and make a bookmark, ride the Christmas Express train and receive a cup of hot cocoa and a Christmas cookie, baked by elves, of course!    We are extended the hours of the event so more children can experience going to the North Pole via the magic of a lot of volunteers and our wonderful sponsors with even more fun and surprises than last year.  Each child will receive a free ticket for the Read-On Express at their school or many local businesses starting December 1, 2017 (no ticket is needed for entry).   With all the added surprises, we encourage the families be there early and schedule at least an hour to enjoy the activities.

The Christmas Read-On Express is devoted to children’s literacy for the Globe, Miami and San Carlos area children. Read-On is dedicated to bringing the love of reading to all children and to their families. Read-On Globe/Miami is a non-profit collaboration, comprising representatives from more than 40 local organizations, government agencies, civic groups, and businesses, which promotes childhood literacy.
