Richard Hulon McMinn, 84 years old, of Globe, Az., passed away peacefully on May 29, 2021 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Phoenix, Az.

He was born on July 22, 1936, in Tucson, Az. He was the third child of four and the only son of Harriet and Hulon McMinn. Richard was raised in Sabino Canyon, where his love and passion for horsemanship and training racehorses created a family legacy. Richard graduated from Amphitheater High School in 1955.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Jean Lucille Lane. They were married June 9, 1961 and they were wed for 43 years. Shortly after they were married, they moved to their forever home in Globe, Arizona. After 35 years at APS as a lineman electrician he retired on Nov. 2, 1990.  Richard became the proud business owner of McMinn’s Tree Service and Lighting that serviced the Globe/Miami area. Richard was also a very passionate Christian. He and his close friend Harry Mabry started their own ministry service called Old School Ministries serving the Globe, Miami and San Carlos areas. He is survived by his younger sister Eva Lively and her husband Joe Lively, his daughter Patricia McMinn, two grandsons Anthony Hernandez and Brandon Madison and two great-grandchildren Anabella Hernandez and Kash Madison. Richard will always be remembered for his devotion to his church and the Lord, his kind and caring demeanor, outreach for friendship, his perseverance, dedication and love for his family.

The funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 10, 2021 at River of Life Pentecostal Church of God in Globe at 11 a.m. followed by the celebration of life that will be at 1 p.m. after the funeral at the VFW in Globe. The Burial will be held on Friday, June 11, 2021 at the Holy Hope Cemetery in Tucson at 11 a.m., Family and Friends are welcome to attend.
