Robert (Bobby) Dale Meyer of Globe died Feb. 1 in Scottsdale. Born to Robert C. and Doris Hubbard Meyer, in Tucson April 26, 1946, Bobby attended high school in Bisbee and El Paso, TX. After graduating from El Paso High School he joined the US Navy and was stationed in Hawaii. After returning to civilian life, he was employed by A.J. Bayless, and came to Globe to manage their Central Heights store. Upon separating from Bayless, he became a licensed insurance agent, representing Metropolitan Life Insurance company, before buying the Farmers Insurance agency from which he eventually retired in the early 2000‘s.

He enjoyed bird hunting, shooting sports, and golf. In his last years, golf became his favorite sport and as his many friends can attest, he excelled in it.

He is survived by his wife Ruth; his sisters, Jacqui (Pat) McGee and Jonna Meyer of Colorado; five step-children, Theresa Thompson and Bryson (Jennifer) Southard of Oregon; Susan (Tom) Dunlap of Idaho; Carl (Hannalore) Southard of Globe; and Katy (Joe) Gerardo of Gilbert. “Grandpa Bobby” will be sorely missed by his family and his 11 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one grandchild and one great-grandchild.

At his request, no formal service will be held, but his friends are welcome to raise a glass in his memory whenever they might think of him.
