Robert “Bambi” Burdette Jr., 72, of Peridot, Ariz., passed away Feb. 13, 2021 at his residence. He fought courageously but lost his battle with cancer. Just like he dealt with all the experiences in his life, he faced his illness head-on with strength and dignity. He spent as much time as he could with his loved ones and as he departed this world he was surrounded with family, whom he adored more than anything else.

Robert was born on Oct. 6, 1948 to Robert and Roxie Burdette Sr., in San Carlos, Ariz. He graduated from Phoenix Indian School in 1967. Then in 1968 he decided to enlist in the United States Marine Corps, where he fought and served his country in the Vietnam War as a mortarman, until 1971 when he was honorably discharged.

After returning Stateside, he received certification at California Trade Technical School to be a general automotive mechanic and also through ABC Welding School for master plate welding. He was employed with McSpadden Ford as an auto mechanic, the Christmas Mines as a welder, with the S.C.A.T. Utility Authority as assistant director and finally at the S.C.A.T. Utility Construction as director.

Through it all, his wife Patricia remained steadfast by his side for 52 years. He also leaves behind his children Jessica Dosela, Andrea Burdette, Kenneth Phillips Jr. and Ty Burdette; his grandchildren Jaylyn, Desirae, Kylie, Isaiah and Baby Duckie; his siblings Verlanda Porter (Jeffery), Josephine Irving (Gene), Arlene Holmes, Marlinda Roubidoux (Jonas), Rosalind White, Sharon Burdette, Verna Stevens (Albert Sr.), Harding Burdette (Brenda), Andrew Burdette and Ricardo Burdette (Neva); and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in passing by his parents Robert and Roxie Burdette Sr., and his grandson Kyle Ryan Phillips.

Robert touched many lives with his charm, generosity and wisdom. He will be greatly missed.

Visitation was held on Thursday, Feb. 25, from 3 – 5 p.m. at Lamont Mortuary Chapel.

Graveside services were held on Friday, Feb. 26, at Phoenix National Memorial Veterans Cemetery, in Phoenix, at 11 a.m.
