Robert Bobby Mounce passed away at his home on Jan. 7, 2020 at the age of 65. Bobby was born on  Nov. 3, 1954 in Safford, Ariz. to Bob and Patricia Mounce. Bobby’s early childhood was spent in Safford until the family moved to Globe where Bobby attended Globe Elementary and High School. After high school he attended Eastern Arizona College in Thatcher. He learned much of his business skills and started his excellent roping career.

Bobby had several successful business adventures. He started and owned Pinal Rental Company with Jon Schminke. He continued to operate the rental company on his own at the end of their partnership.

At one time Bobby also worked for Gila County and ran for Gila County Supervisor.

In later years Bobby bought and operated the Globe Stockyards which is still in business, selling feed and ranch supplies. Bobby also worked at the Apache Gold Pavilion and was instrumental in bringing large roping and rodeos to our area. The last few years he was instrumental in starting the San Carlos Equipment Rental Company as manager.

Bobby was always active and involved in the community and helping and supporting 4-H and FFA activities and various projects through the years. He was a very accomplished team roper winning many roping’s across the state. He loved his horses and trading cattle. Bobby was an important person in the community and will be greatly missed.

Bobby is preceded in death by his father Bob and brother Jim. Survived by his mother Pat of Globe, and brother Dale (Laura) of Springerville.

There will be a celebration of life for Bobby on Feb. 15, 2020 at 1 p.m. at the Gila County Fairgrounds.
