Safford Salsa Fest 2018

Posted

Come experience Salsa Fest 2018 in beautiful Safford, Ariz. on Friday and Saturday, Sept. 21 and 22. Since 2005, some of the best local family restaurants and vendors around Safford have come together to create the Arizona Salsa Trail. For two days in September, thre will be live entertainment, a car show, and all kinds of exciting events.

Participating restaurants include Casa Manana, El Charro, El Coronado, Gi Mee’s Restaurant, Isabel’s South of the Border, La Paloma, La Unica Tortilleria y Taquiera, Manor House & Rock N’ Horse Saloon, Mechy’s Mexican Food, Michelle’s Bar and Grill.

In recent years many vacations have turned toward being “foodie” venues. Anyone who enjoys chips and salsa will absolutely LOVE Salsa Fest. On Friday evening the “Taste of the Trail” features all 12 trail restaurants and their respective salsa. For $5 you receive chips and 12 different types of salsa. You, the taster, can vote for your favorite and see which restaurant is crowned “champion.”

On Saturday there are a few other salsa-voting opportunities: (A) Amateur salsa making and (B) restaurant salsa featuring the “Chopped” idea and 3 mystery ingredients. The restaurants are only granted three hours to come up with their new recipe, which makes it an extremely daunting task.

For nearly a decade and a half the Arizona Salsa Trail has been providing gastro happiness to those who come to participate or peruse. In 2017 we had 80 merchant vendors — including a major sponsor Nature Sweet — who provided complimentary tomatoes to patrons! There were many food vendors, from Kettle Corn to Fry Bread to Mexican Corn and freshly made pizzas; which all proved just as delicious as the next.
