Steve (Steve-a-rino) Andrew Katich passed away peacefully on Dec. 19, 2018 at the Lund Family Hospice Home in Gilbert, Ariz. He was 89 years old.

Steve was born to Steve, Sr. and Mary Katich Jan. 19, 1929 in a pick-up truck on its way to Good Samaritan hospital in Phoenix.

He was raised in Phoenix, along with his three beautiful sisters, Mary Helen, Ann and Charlotte.

Steve attended Wilson Elementary School, then Creighton. He went on to North High but transferred to Phoenix Union because he wanted to learn about auto mechanics. After finishing school, Steve joined the U.S. Army. He served his country from 1946 to 1949. Steve then got hired with Mountain Bell phone company. He then relocated to Globe, Ariz.

Globe is where he met his first wife, Pat Cook. Steve and Pat had six loving children together, Mike, Shari, Jana, Kim, Lori and Misti. After a period of time Pat and Steve parted ways.

Then Steve met Barbara Bowls in Globe, and in a short time they were married. They then had a beautiful daughter named Stephanie. Steve worked for Mountain Bell for 30 years before retiring. It was time for him to enjoy life. He loved to go camping with family and loved to travel. He even traveled to Alaska and Hawaii. Steve was definitely a family man. He loved being around his family, especially his children and grandchildren. 

He is proceeded in death by his beloved parents Steve Sr. and Mary Katich; his loving sisters, Ann Adams and Mary Helen Nelson; his beloved grandson, Bryan Nader and beautiful daughter-in-law, Lisa Katich.

He is survived by his beautiful sister, Charlotte Lucas; his loving son, Mike Katich; and his beautiful and loving daughters, Shari (Rick) Shanklin; Jana Katich; Kim Katich; Lori (Katich) Galvan and Misti Katich. He is also survived by his 17 loving grandchildren and his 16 great-grandchildren. 

There will be a Celebration of Steve’s life in Globe at the VFW Post 1704 located at 707 S. Broad St. The celebration will be on Saturday, Jan. 26 at 1 p.m. This celebration will also include special military honors held at 2 p.m. Friends and family will be bringing food, so feel free to bring your favorite dish. 

Also, there will be a graveside service on Friday, March 8 at Greenwood/Memory Lawn Crematory, located at 719 N. 27th Ave. Phoenix, Az. The service will start at 11 a.m.
