Teams from Liberty High School receive national recognition

Two teams from Liberty High School in Globe have received “Honorable Mention” in the 2021 national STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) competition sponsored by the Association of Old Crows. Although they did not win the monetary prize, students Michael Nash and Zoee Coleman from Team Stripes and Annabelle Belarde from Team Solids are congratulated for representing local high school students in a fiercely competitive national contest. During the worst days of the pandemic these youth persevered by “going the distance” against highly skilled, well-funded students from around the nation.

The Association of Old Crows (AOC) is an  organization for individuals who have common interests in electronic warfare (EW), electromagnetic spectrum operations (EMSO) and other information-related capabilities. The name “crow” or “old crow” is military jargon dating back to the first large-scale use of electronic warfare during the WWII Battle of Britain.

Videos of the two LHS entries are posted on the AOC website and at Liberty High School’s website under student activities.
