The President’s Choice: Christmas in Many Lands at Wednesday’s Hardscrabble

Enjoy a little Christmas music and hear stories from Christmases of our region’s past when Bullion Plaza Cultural Center and Museum and Gila County Historical Museum present “The President’s Choice: Christmas in Many Lands” for December’s Hardscrabble program on Wednesday, Dec. 18, starting at 6:30 p.m.

Mariano Gonzales, President of the Board at Bullion Plaza Museum in Miami, will give a program based on several sources, including “Miami: The Great Melting Pot of the Nation,” based on a special edition of the Arizona Silver Belt in 1920. This special edition has been made into a booklet, with an original drawing by local artist Patty Sjolin, which is for sale for $5 at the museum. In the booklet is interviews with over 30 area residents from 1920, on the cultural traditions of Christmas from the many lands they came from.

Mariano is a lifelong resident of the Globe-Miami region. He loves history, especially of Arizona. He loves history, especially of Arizona. He is also an accomplished musician, playing trumpet and guitar in various projects, and in the Globe Centennial Bands. The combination of local Christmas history and music promised to make for an enjoyable evening you won’t want to miss.

Wednesday Hardscrabble programs are co-hosted by Bullion Plaza Cultural Center and Museum in Miami and Gila County Historical Museum in Globe. These programs are always free to the public.
